Centrale Lyon is a research & education institution in the greater Lyon area, France. Founded in 1857, it is one of the oldest graduate schools in France. Centrale Lyon is part of the Grandes Écoles, a prestigious group of French institutions dedicated to engineering, scientific research, and management education. Traditionally known for its research and education in applied science and engineering, Centrale Lyon excels in such research fields as acoustics, tribology, AI, biosciences, and nanotechnology. It is consistently ranked among the top Grandes Écoles for the quality of its engineering graduate programs. Centrale Lyon has strong ties with top research & education institutions in Europe and is a founding member of the Ecoles Centrales Group network, which includes campuses in Paris, Nantes, Lille, Marseille, Casablanca and Beijing. 

Additionally, it is a founding member of the University of Lyon's center for Research and Higher Education, which serves over 120,000 students.
